Photo Set: "A Gathering of Lilies"

This series features five photographs of red and yellow Asiatic lilies blooming in spring…

…And, yet…it almost never existed!

Backstory: In the year prior, I took pictures of that season's lily bloom, but came away disappointed at how they turned out. Because of that, not liking to do the same thing twice, and not being particularly interested in doing any more flower photos, I had no intention of a repeat venture the following year. However, that year's bloom proved impressive as the fullest and most vivid in years, so, after some consternation, I relented. Casting a more critical eye on lighting and going with more unconventional framing, I committed to taking a few shots—but just a few. Miraculously, they turned out far better than expected…

Moral of this (back)story? If you don't succeed, try it again a different way, even radically, I suppose…
